After a one-year break caused by restrictions due to coronavirus, the 47th Rally Košice will take place in mid-October. The competition is prepared by its traditional organizer Auto klub Košice in cooperation with Automobilklub Rzeszowski.
Last year, 2020, the Košice Auto Club celebrated 50 years of its existence, but the measures and regulations at the time did not allow it to celebrate this half-century with domestic events. We believe that this year it will be successful and on the days 14-17. October, with the support of the City of Košice and the Ministry of Education of the Slovak Republic, a rally will take place.
Rally will be included in the FIA CEZ Championships of Modern and Historic Vehicles, the Slovak Rally Championship of Modern and Historic Vehicles, the Polish Rally of Modern and Historic Vehicles and the Slovak Rally Cup.
Although the absolute Slovak champions for this season have already been decided prematurely, fights in several classes remain open. In addition, the calculation of points for winning titles is more demanding, as the results of the last competition day of the season, ie the second stage of the Košice Rally, will be multiplied by a coefficient of 1.5 according to national regulations. Polish crews will certainly make a big contribution to the attractiveness of the competition, for whom this competition will also be the final event of their rally season.
If we look at the basic characteristics of this year, the competition will have its background for the first time in the new Košice football arena at Pri Prachárni Street 6. The Rally Headquarter, Service park and Parc fermé will be located also in these premises. We would like to reveal what about the competition tracks as well, but since not all the necessary permits have been issued yet, it will remain a secret for some time. However, the schedule of the rally is already clear, which will start for the competitors on Thursday, October 14, by taking over the itineraries and starting the tour of the track. Friday and Saturday mornings will be devoted to administrative checks and scrutineerings, while the reconnaissance will continue. There will also be a shakedown test on Saturday morning. The Leg1 will start on this day with a ceremonial start directly from the Service park at 1 pm and will end in the evening after 8 pm. The Leg2 will start on Sunday morning from 8 am and the first vehicles will be expected on the finish ramp after 2 pm.
